Science Tuition

"...a Good teacher with elements of Outstanding."
Ofsted inspection - October 2009

Since becoming a professional fencing coach I have also been offering private science tuition for Key Stage 3 (KS3) Science, GCSE Physics, GCSE Science (including Chemistry and Biology), GCSE Electronics and A Level Physics.

Whilst Physics is my dominant subject I am qualified to assist students who are studying the core Science Subjects to GCSE level.

These include; GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry, GCSE Electronics and GCSE Astronomy.

My Students and their Achievements
My past tutees;

  • The first student I tutored obtained an A* with his GCSE Physics exam in 2005.
  • Another student was aiming to gain a place at Brooksby-Melton College and we boosted his Science grades. He achieved a grade C in all his sciences and won his place.

Recently I have been assisting three students...

  • SP obtained an A* with his GCSE Physics (21st Century Science) in June 2009
  • HS is working on his A Level Physics course and obtained a grade C last year. He has asked for me to assist him with his Year 13 Physics studies.
  • SB is focussing on improving his KS3 Science SAT grades.

If you are interested in enquiring about obtaining tuition for your son/daughter, please contact me for further details and my rates.

Experience
After teaching for nearly 5 years at secondary level, I have an acute understanding of the examination process.

Whilst working at Longslade Community College I had a group of students studying for their AQA GCSE Physics exams. The group obtained a 96% A*-C pass rate.

I obtained my Secondary Science PGCE from the University of Leicester in 2005. I have also attended the PGCE+ (PGCE Plus) course which was ran by NAGTY (the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth) and Warwick University. It has since changed it's name to YG&T (Young, Gifted and Talented). The PGCE+ course dealt with, as you may have surmised, gifted and talented youngsters. This has given me a unique insight into assisting pupils achieve the top grades possible.

Resources
I have put together various resources to help students to achieve their best. Most are only available through tuition sessions. However please see 'Improving Students' Exam Techniques'.
